The Light and the Glory & The Light and the Glory for Children
by Peter Marshall
This was one of the first treasures I found when I began teaching American Heritage over ten years ago and it still one of my most favorite books. There are two sets of books —one for adults and one for children with three books in each set. The Light and the Glory Series and The Light and the Glory Series for Children are both exceptional works of non-fiction literature. The providential hand of God in America is clearly apparent as you read the stories of the people founded America and here how they felt about their experiences in their own words. The books have the same stories, they are just more detailed in the adult set. Great read-alouds and the for teens and youth. Purchase on Amazon here
Patriots in Petticoats
by Patricia Edwards Clyne
This is another one of my all-time favorites. My children and I thoroughly enjoyed the stories of the women that contributed so much and sacrificed so much for the dream of freedom and founding of our nation. And the at the end of each story is information on memorials and historic sites you can visit that are associated with the people and events of the story. Make sure you put in the author when searching for the book. There is a newer version of the book with the same title and by a different author but it isn’t anywhere near as good as the original. Make sure you get the one by Patricia Edwards Clyne. I just love this book! Purchase on Amazon here
Seven Miracles that Saved America
by Chris Stewart and Ted Stewart
“When the odds were stacked against us — and there have been many times when the great experiment we call America could have and should have failed — did God intervene to save us?” That question, posed by authors Chris and Ted Stewart, is the foundation for this remarkable book. And the examples they cite provide compelling evidence that the hand of Providence has indeed preserved the United States of America on multiple occasions. Skillfully weaving story vignettes with historical explanations, they examine seven instances that illustrate God’s protecting care. Purchase on Amazon here

It has been said that the true definition of a hero is someone who is just an ordinary person who did extraordinary things. But the true nature of a hero, is why they did it at all. A hero is someone who believes in something bigger themselves, who is willing to sacrifice all they have for those beliefs—even if it means their life. A hero is someone who does the right thing even when it is unpopular and even when it could cost you everything you have. This book is full of those true heroes. They were all just ordinary people who stood on their principles, had the courage to fight for them, and because they did, they accomplished the extraordinary and live in history and in our hearts, as the unlikely heroes—the heroes within us all.

The format of the Story Bible was inspired by the recommendations of 19th Century British educator, Charlotte Mason. Its unique feature among children's Bibles is the retention of the language of the King James Version. The presentation in story format and chronological order lays a perfect foundation for personal study.
For a discussion of why the Bible is so important to gardeners of liberty, read Step One in our eBook. This Story Bible has over 400 story segments from the King James version to read aloud with your family. Purchase here.
American History Stories
by Mara L. Pratt
This book is an American child’s masterpiece. It is a book that was written in the late 1800’s for school children. Each story is just two to three pages, written very simply so young children can read them. But everyone will enjoy these stories no matter how old you are. And once you read these stories and know that this is what our children were reading in school a hundred years, you will ached within your heart that they are not read in schools today. After I read the story about Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys I was so inspired I named our youngest son Ethan. These stories are treasures that must be shared, past on, and never forgotten.
The Tuttle Twins
by Connor Boyack
Each year, hundreds of millions of children are spoon-fed false history, bad economics, and logical fallacies. Your child is not immune. Well meaning parents have long desired a way to inoculate their children against this trend to help them really grasp the importance of freedom and free markets—the pillars of good government that made America great.
These parents—just like you—have had nowhere to turn, and no literature to provide their child… until now!
The solution is here: The Tuttle Twins books. There is no alternative to the Tuttle Twins series; our books fill a huge void in the market for children's literature that exposes young readers to the foundational principles of freedom.

Prelude to Glory Series
by Ron Carter
This is my most favorite series of Historic Fiction on the Revolution. The characters come to life as they take you back in time to the events of the time, places, and families of the American Revolution. This is great fiction for teens and adults and also really good read aloud for middle school aged children. These are still in print and can easily be found at discounted prices on Amazon and other discount booksellers.
